A Visual Love Story
This project was created as a narrative illustration series that visually documents my sister’s relationship journey, culminating in her wedding day. The intent was to transform real-life milestones into a cohesive visual story, using illustration as a storytelling medium rather than a single, standalone image.
The series begins with the place where their relationship truly started, one of their shared workplaces, acknowledging that while they attended school together, their connection developed later through shared daily experiences. From there, the narrative progresses chronologically through key moments: their first anniversary, the engagement in Hawaii, the engagement photoshoot, and finally their wedding day. This structured timeline allowed each illustration to function as both an individual piece and part of a larger visual sequence.
A consistent illustrative style, colour palette, and simplified facial features were intentionally used to unify the series and keep the focus on emotion, gesture, and symbolism rather than literal realism. Background elements, such as organic shapes and floral motifs, were incorporated to enhance warmth, intimacy, and continuity across the images. The decision to omit detailed facial features further encourages viewers to project emotion into posture and interaction, making the moments feel universally relatable while remaining deeply personal.
